Here are some questions which we field regularly, together with our immediate answers.
Who are your clients?
Generally, the nature of our work precludes public dissemination of the names of client
organizations. Under particular circumstances, however, we will provide references for
potential clients.
Our individual clients are almost always top management with direct responsibility for
corporate development or for implementing strategy.
How does Walden charge for its services?
We bill for professional time and for all expenses directly attributable to an engagement. We prepare estimated
budgets for professional fees and expenses for each phase of an engagement in advance. In addition we charge
for farmed out work such as survey research. Except insofar as our professional time is involved in designing,
managing or interpreting such work, we do not mark it up.
Do you respond to RFPs sent out to solicit competitive bids?
We do if we meet the principal in person first. We do not respond to RFPs from intermediaries
such as PR firms and advertising agencies unless we meet with the principal.
Can/does Walden conduct consulting engagements outside the United States?
Yes. Wherever it is needed. We also work for overseas clients looking at the United States
marketplace. Most of our work is within the United States.
Does Walden conduct market research?
Most engagements entail original research, but we are not a market research firm in the
sense of doing surveys. We often design and manage research assignments on behalf of clients,
however, advising on methodology and providing interpretation.
Does Walden advise on e-business?
Our involvement in e-business concerns its impact on traditional business practices.
We are not "techies" but we work with firms who are. Virtually every engagement has an e-business
dimension or component.
Does Walden get involved in implementing recommendations?
We make recommendations for our clients to carry out, not for ourselves.
We often "get involved" in the earlier implementation stages, however, especially if these constitute some kind of testing or pilot phase.
